Huntsville golf courses are numerous. In Huntsville, Alabama and the surrounding metropolitan area, there are several public or municipal golf courses, as well as a few private ones.

When it comes to Huntsville golf, locals take their game seriously. Some courses are open year round while others are available as weather permits. In fact, at many of them, you can get golf lessons to improve your game before you get on the course.

The most popular option is the public golf courses. These include the following:

  • Becky Pierce Municipal Golf Course (often-called Muni by the locals is just off the airport.
  • Colonial Golf Course
  • Hampton Cove, which is a Robert Trent Jones Golf Trails, contains two championship 18 hole golf courses
  • Fox Run Golf course
  • Sunset Landing Golf Club, located near to the airport
  • Richland Golf Center (outside the city in Huntsville)
  • Chriswood Golf Course (outside the city in Athens)
  • Harvest Hills Golf Course (outside the city in Harvest)
  • Canebrake Club (outside the city in Athens)
  • Southern Gayles (outside the city in Athens)

In order to reserve green time on any of these public golf courses, simply call in advance to book your tee time. There are no membership fees, but there are fees for using the green. Each offers a clubhouse with various amenities.

Huntsville Country Club

One of the private golf courses available is the Huntsville Country Club. This historic club is one of the areas most well-respected golf courses. It was established in 1925 and features a fairly difficult 18 hole course. The banquet facilities and dining room are excellent for after a day of golf. It's located just north of the downtown Huntsville area.

Other Club Options

Two additional private golf courses are located in Huntsville. One is The Ledges, an 18 hole course. It's one of the newest golf courses and has all of the latest amenities. It's well known for its beautiful views from the dining and banquet facilities, which overlook the Jones Valley beyond.

The other is the Valley Hill Country Club, which has 27 holes. It's located in South Huntsville in the Jones Valley.
